For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it
This verse clearly teaches that you will have to deny your impulses if you want to find God’s will for you. You will have impulses that will lead you astray if you were to follow them. These must be abandoned in favor of what God is clearly calling you to do. God knows that we will destroy our lives if we follow what seems right to us or the various impulses that arise within us. We must stop trying to save our understanding of what life should be and instead embrace what life is in serving God. What does He want us to be? It is in this pursuit that we will find our life.
